Sleep Is Not A Luxury

Days become so full with all we have going on in our lives, the easy solution is to stay up later, wake up earlier and use the extra time to accomplish all the tasks we need to get done.  But, research shows that sleep is not a luxury we can afford to take advantage of, it is a necessity!

According to HelpGuide.org, there are distinct stages and cycles your body goes through while you are sleeping that refresh your body and your mind.  If you start sleeping less, or not getting a good nights rest, it affects your mood, energy, ability to handle stress, mental sharpness and physical vitality.  You might think that while you are sleeping your brain is relaxing too.  In actuality, your brain is working extremely hard overseeing biological maintenance tasks, preparing you for a new day.

There are many reasons why people don't get a good nights sleep.  It could be due to stress, depression, travel and numerous other reasons.  Before you talk to your doctor about why you aren't sleeping well, check your mattress.

According to The Better Sleep Council, a study in 1996 found many people use their mattress until it is in "bad" or "very bad" condition.  If you are tossing and turning all night, never drifting into a good nights rest, check your mattress.  The study showed that 60 percent of the participants said they only think about their mattress when it is disturbing their sleep.  So, can you remember the year you bought your mattress?  If not, it might be time to get a new one.

When buying a new mattress, you want to focus on a few areas to make sure the mattress you choose is the best one to offer you a good, full nights sleep.  Make sure the mattress offers good support to all parts of your body and keeps your spine in the position of good standing posture.  Find one that is comfortable to you.  Some people might like a hard mattress, while others prefer a pillow top.  Choose what works for you. Your mattress should provide you with enough space to move freely.  Top quality mattress cost a little more, but it will wear better with time, providing more durability for a longer period of time.  Higher end mattresses may also come with a warranty which covers product or warranty defects.  Matching sleep sets are built to work together to provide you with the best possible nights sleep.  Look for the best value in a mattress.  Bargain beds might not be able to offer you the best nights sleep you need to feel rested the next day.

Fisher Home Furnishings has a variety of mattress available to help you get a good nights rest.  Fisher's offers a variety of mattress including Simmons and Tempur-Pedic.  Come in and let us help you find the perfect mattress for your body.

Home Office

A home office can be a place where one spends a lot or a little amount of time.  Decorating this space can be tricky since you want it to be an inviting place for people to enjoy, but still maintain the professional atmosphere.  According to All Business, there are five areas to address to make your home office functional.
  • Wall Color - When choosing a color for your walls, be sure the color fits the atmosphere you are wanting to convey.  If you are looking for a professional feel stick to the neutral colors.  For a more vibrant and exciting feel, look for bright colors.

  • Decorate The Walls - Bare walls can seem uninviting and dull.  By hanging things on the walls it sets the mood of your home office.  If you are looking for color on the walls, without painting, look for creative art pieces that can give character to the room.  Decorating with shelves is another way to bring color and creativity into your office.  And, if the room is small, mirrors are a great way to make the room seem a little bigger.

  • Go Green- Adding plants and indoor trees to your office space will bring part of the outside world into your office.  With living plants in the room, make sure there is enough light to allow the plant to get the appropriate amount of light, and don't forget to water them.

  • Carefully Choose Furniture - To offer a professional feel to the office, make sure all the office furniture is matching and flows together throughout the room.  Mismatched furniture can look cheap.  Office sets available at Fisher Home Furnishings will offer the professional feel you are looking for.

  • Be organized - All Business says, "...with a clear desk comes a clear mind."  Clutter in an office space can give the feeling of chaos.  Find furniture with plenty of storage to keep files and other items neatly put away.  Also look for creative ways to keep unnecessary items, like pens, paper clips and staplers off your desk.

Fisher home Furnishings has a large selection of home office furniture, whether you are looking for simple office furniture or for furniture with plenty of storage.  We offer furniture sets, as well as individual pieces.  Come in and see if we can help you create the atmosphere you are looking to create in your home office.

According to about.com a bedroom with good feng shui is one that invites you in.  It offers you an exciting, but calm feeling, a place where you feel comfortable to take a quick nap, or know you can get a good nights rest.

    Mirrors

During these winter months, we can all use a little help to bring as much light into the room as possible.  One trick to bring in additional light, without turning on a light, is through mirrors.

According to eHow.com a mirror can add extra light to the room, make the room feel more open, and be used for practical use as well.

Accordning to Best Decorative Mirrors, you don't always need to use square mirrors.  For a more traditional look try many mirrors grouped together on one wall, different sizes or shapes of mirrors and even different color frames.

At Fisher Home Furnishings we offer a variety of different mirrors including, free standing mirrors, round and square mirrors to hang on the walls and mirrors attached to chest of drawers.

Mirrors are also part of many different bedroom sets available at Fisher's.  Come see what we offer to help increase the light in your home through adding mirrors.
